Pisa Guesthouse was perfectly located in downtown Reykjavik a short walking distance from restaurants, the main shopping area and site seeing areas. The rate was excellent for the time of the year and a buffet breakfast of juice, milk, coffee, fruit, toast, eggs, ham and much more was unexpectedly provided. "Anna" tthe lone morning staff member that I saw, spoke English and was very attentive. The single room, was simple but sufficient and included a nightstand, chair, sink and tv. Washroom facilities were very nice and never a problem in sharing with other guests and for the most part, other than being outside the room, felt much like it was my private bathroom. Access was simple with a key provided for the entrance to the Guesthouse. The restaurant provided a lot of choices on the menu at reasonable prices. I brought a bicycle with me and was provided with a location to store it but ended up keeping it in my room anyway.
The tv was older and without a remote and the signal was weak with a fuzzy picture but considering that most programming was in Icelandic and I was out most of the day, made it of little concern. There is a club next door but never posed any kind of a problem for me.
comfort of the room location staff free internet silent backfacing room
music all the time in the restaurant stairs not so clean
The Pisa, has a great and friendly staff who go out of their way to help. They even upgraded my room to an ensuite one for free. A lovely resto below, with an excello chef. Reykjvik tends to be overpriced in its accommodation, but kroner for dollar, the Pisa is a great bet... Homey, and super convenient to everything and everywhere in iceland.
Fantastic price for the quality of accommodation and a really good breakfast served in the morning. Also a perfect location right in the centre of town, no need to walk very far to get anywhere.
Breakfast included, friendly staff (owner spoke to me many times), amazing location close to the harbor and right downtown (could walk everywhere); I was supposed to be in single room with shared bathroom, but they upgraded me!
Right next to club that was lousy at night, no shower curtain (but my friend's room had one)
Good, simple, breakfasts included; nice bathrooms; clean, comfortable guesthouse in a central location for a budget price
Street-side rooms can be noisy
Room was clean and large enough. Should have a table to write on. Wi-Fi worked fine in room and downstairs in excellent restaurant. Restaurant is not inexpensive, but a very good deal considering the quality, and the 20% discount for people that stay in the guest house. Location excellent, in walking distance of the down town places.
The location was great, right in the centre of Reykjavik and beside the 'City Pond'.
The breakfast was limited but my tastes are fussy.
A noise from surrounding music during the whole stay
Thebest position to sleep in Reykjavik, 5-10 min. Walking from 90% of the things you could see. Claena and nice room.
First they tried to put me in a room different from that I booked (with bathroom) and I had to wait for the owner of the guesthouse to have what I wanted. She was very kind but I still don't understand why both her and the "maitre" of the restaurant kept on telling me that there was nobody in the hotel but still didn't give me a room with bathroom inside. Last little thing: my room (nº 12) was the reign of draughts (but had a good heating).
My interactions with the staff, in particular Hannes, were delightful and very helpful.
The location was convenient, however there is a club located right next door and the customers spilled out until 5:00 or 6:00 a.m. most nights. Since I was staying in the front room and the windows were not sound proof whatsoever, I was often awakened even though I was wearing earplugs. The first night, I stayed in a room on the other side of the building and it was not an issue, so bear this in mind.
The staff was excellent! A friendly staff that made my stay really enjoyable. They brought up my heavy luggage, helped me roll it to the nearest taxi a few blocks over. They were super easy going about the checkout time, telling me to just stay in the room until my flight later in the afternoon. The location is great as its on the main street dividing the 2 main parts of the city. And, for those taking Icelandic Excursions, its about a 1min walk to the bus departure. Although I didnt eat there, the place sure smelled good and the pizzas looked fantastic with giant shrimps and scallops. Makes me want to go back!
The room was a little small, but thats what I expected as I didnt pay much - and I had my own bathroom which I didn't think I was going to have. Small, but cozy.
Except for the uncomfortable bed ,this was a great choice to stay.Location is the best in the city, food was just fantastic.Very kind staff.....There was no lift, but was offered help with our suitcases....As a couple in our mid to late 40's we would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!
Simple and easy without additional services or contact with the staff.
Location was fantastic, very clean and good value for money. I would recommend this hotel as a great base for business or holiday.
